PROFILE OF THE NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION AUTHORITY (NIA) INTRODUCTION
The National identification Authority was established by an Act of Parliament, Act 707 (2006). The mandate of the NIA is to establish a National Identification System (NIS) by creating a national database on all Ghanaians and foreigners permanently resident in Ghana, issue national ID cards to all Ghanaians and such foreigners, and promote the use of the national ID card.
